Polly Primrose Robins Olympic Scarf

Little Polly Primrose Robins is the latest star of the Mercury's Olympic photography competition.

This picture shows the five-month-old, from Western Park, Leicester, modelling the new Olympic scarf from fashion retailer Next as a baby shawl.

Mum Clair, 43, said she wanted to do the shot of Polly after Florrie, three, featured in the Mercury with a scarf last week.

Clair said: "The shot of Polly is meant to look dynamic and athletic. A true Olympian pose."

Readers have the chance to win £2,500 of clothing and Olympic-inspired home and garden accessories by sending in snaps of either the official Team GB or Paralympics GB scarves being worn creatively.

All profits from the sales go to the British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association, helping British athletes.

The closing date for the competition is June 9, and some of the best pictures will appear in the Mercury.

Olympic Scarf

Toddler Florrie Robins looks a pretty picture modelling the new Next Olympic scarf.

This artistic shot of her wearing the scarf as a Greek toga was taken by her mum Clair.

It is among the first entries in our latest photography competition.

Teacher Clair, 43, from Western Park, Leicester, who is on maternity leave with three-year-old Florrie's younger sister Polly, five months, said: "I really like the scarf, particularly the intricate little details and its a great memento for the Olympics.

"I painted the swirly background using red, white and blue paint onto a large white sheet of paper and photographed Florrie using natural light in front of the window as she messed around on the floor.

"Its going to go in the family album."

Readers are being offered the chance to win £2,500 worth of clothing and Olympic-inspired home and garden accessories from Next.

All they have to do is send in a photograph featuring either the official Team GB or ParalympicsGB scarves, designed by Next.

The scarves, which can be used as a bandana, classy head or neck scarf, or as a trendy crop top or bandeau, are available from all Next stores, including the shop at Fosse Park where Clair bought her scarf.

The stylish cotton scarves incorporate a roaring lion, hearts, stars and national landmarks. They also feature the English rose, Welsh daffodil, Scottish thistle and Irish flax.

They both come in two sizes, 50cm (20in) and 90cm (35in), priced £5 and £10. Competition entrants can submit up to six pictures.

The closing date is Saturday, June 9, and some of the best pictures will appear in the Mercury and be published on our website.
